About

For those who have just stumbled across this story for the first time, let me fill you in a little on it’s background and how it came to be here.

The Very Beginning

I (Piddly) have been an avid reader of fiction for as long as I can remember, and as well as reading conventional novels I also take great pleasure from reading the work of amateur authors, often published via online forums. I am a member of one such forum, which has an adult theme and therefore won’t be discussed here, however in the past the community also allowed non-adult themed fiction to be posted, and it was here that The Forgotten Homework first found it’s earliest audience.

I had been following another story, not dissimilar, although one which ultimately took a more grown-up turn. Due to changes in their personal life, the author of that work took some time out and the story wasn’t updated for a number of months, so having exhausted the other content which appealed to me I decided to have a go at creating something of my own. The Forgotten Homework was originally intended to be a short story, just a couple of brief chapters, as despite reading so much fictional work I’d never written creatively before, well not since leaving school at any rate. With the support of the community, however, it soon took on a life of it’s own – and at the time of writing this introduction we are up to in excess of 150,000 words!

Reception

I’m not much of one for blowing my own trumpet, however I think it’s fair to say that the story proved popular. In fact, far more so than I had ever thought possible, even in my wildest dreams. At one stage it was the most highly rated on the forum which previously hosted it, and the second longest too. Hopefully you guys will enjoy it just as much, but I’m always open to feedback, so please do let me know your thoughts! For me, the real highlight was learning that the author whose story had led me to begin writing was himself quite a fan of my work…talk about having a bit of a fangirl moment!

Why the move?

I was quite content to leave the story where it was, as it had a loyal following and fit in quite well with the subject matter of the site – although it was very much the exception rather than the rule in being non-adult in nature. Given the nature of the site, however, some concerns were raised that perhaps it wasn’t the best home for such a story given the characters are school age, and ultimately a decision was taken to introduce a new policy which ruled out content featuring underage children – fair enough. The administrator of the forum, which I’m still a regular user of and contributor to, was kind enough to provide a backup copy of the story, meaning that I was able to set up this website to host it directly.
