Ok, thanks all fo your patience whilst I’ve been tinkering with the new website – hopefully you’ll agree it’s working pretty well now. 🙂
I’m deliberately going to keep these ‘non-story’ updates to a minimum, because after all everybody’s here to read about what Lucy and the gang have been up to, not my ramblings! But I thought it was important to share a few new features now that everything is mostly in place and I’ve started to upload the existing chapters.
Subscribe – Don’t worry, you don’t have to pay, haha! But in the sidebar you should now be able to see a ‘Subscribe’ form. If you fill this in with your name and email address, the website will automatically ping an email over to you whenever a new chapter is posted. A bit like the ‘follow’ function on the forum where the story used to live.
Social Media – There are now some social media share buttons on each chapter. Obviously I fully understand that the probably isn’t the sort of story you’d share with your nearest and dearest, but if you have a ‘private’ account for this kind of thing, I’d really appreciate it if you could give the chapters you like a quick share, to help build the audience back up again.
Clap – No, not some kind of nasty disease! Those of you who followed me over here will be familiar with the idea of upvoting forum posts…well this is kind of the same thing. Liked a post/chapter? Just click on the clapping hands to let me and everybody else know. 🙂
Search – Obviously it’s not going to be fully functional until the rest of the archive has been retrieved and uploaded, but the new search box really does do what it says on the tin. 😉 That’s right, you can search back through the story using keywords and phrases. Simple, but effective!
RSS Feeds – Hands up, I’ve never really got them! But if you use an RSS news reader/aggregator, we’re all set up for that now too, and again the buttons you need can be found in the sidebar. If anybody does use these, could you drop a quick comment below just to let me know if they’re working as you’d expect please? I’m clueless, haha.
Translator – No auto-translate function is ever going to be perfect, but Google usually does a pretty decent job, so I’ve enabled it here in the hope that any non-English speakers may at least get the gist of the story and what it’s all about. Who knows, maybe one day it will become a big hit and be published in multiple different languages? Fingers crossed, hehe.
My promise to keep things brief didn’t really last very long did it…oops! Apologies, I’ll stop wittering now and get on with the important business of copying across the chapters I’ve got, so watch this space. Any feedback, both on the story itself and the new website is, of course, always greatly appreciated.
